Results of your child's sleep study can only be given by the referring sleep specialist* and will be released after your follow up consult approximately 3 weeks after the sleep study date.
These results are presented in three forms: a graph, scoring, and a sleep specialist’s report. The graph illustrates changes in physiological parameters that were monitored and measured when the child was asleep. It is accompanied by scoring – a sleep lab technician’s review of these measurements and any other developments recorded over the night.
A Pediatric Sleep Specialist interprets the graph and scoring to prepare a detailed report identifying diagnosed sleep disorders and their possible causes.
Results of the study are then discussed with the parents/caregivers during a follow-up visit together with available treatment options. The individual treatment plan will depend on the type of sleep disorder, child’s age and individual, patient-related factors.
*If your child is not a patient of Dr Virginia Oliveira, you must return to your referring sleep specialist for follow up. As these doctors access our software to review the raw sleep data and generate the results report themselves.
