Unfortunately we do not have onsite parking for patients.
Parking is on street only and as we have 2 major hospitals within 500 metres of our practice, parking can be very difficult.
Please allow plenty of time to find parking so that it does not impact on your appointment time.
If you are running late, we request you call us to let us know so we can let the doctor know.
Due to the high demand and long wait times for appointments with our paediatricians we require SMS confirmation of attendance 1 week in advance.
This allows us to book another child from our waiting list if you can not attend. We will first send out a text message and then call in order to obtain confirmation.
If we do not receive a response to confirm your appointment, your allocated time may be given to another child on the emergency wait list.
Please notify us as soon as you are aware that you are unable to attend the appointment so that we can help you reschedule. We may be able to provide the appointment to another child who is waiting to be seen.
Appointments cancelled with less than 48 hours notice or failure to attend, will be subject to a cancellation fee.
Your pharmacist will notify you when your last script is being dispensed. Scripts expire 6 months from the date they are written regardless of how many repeats are remaining.
If your child is known to us and has recently been seen by doctor, we can provide you with a repeat prescription outside of consultation for a minimal charge.
Alternatively you will need to make appointment with your paediatrician to have new scripts written.
We strongly advise you to call the practice 2 weeks in advance as the doctor can only issue a script when they are present in the practice.
If the script is not an authority script, your GP can renew the scripts for you. Call us if you are unsure if your script requires authority.
We are unable to discount or bulk bill patients.
Fees are to be paid in FULL on the day of consutlation.
If you are unable to afford to see a private paediatrician, your GP may be able to refer you to a public hospital paediatric outpatient clinic at your local Hospital.
Yes, you will need a referral to see our paediatricians or access the paediatric services. It is your responsibility to ensure you have a valid medical referral. Referrals from specialists last for 3 months and GP referrals last for 12 months.
Medicare does not allow us to accept referrals from Allied Health professionals such as Speech Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists.
*Please note Medicare card holders will not be able to claim the Medicare rebate for the paediatric services conducted without a referral.
Due to the Privacy Act we are unable to give results out over the phone and require the parent or guardian of the child to attend the practice to receive results.
This includes pathology, sleep studies and assessments.
Before participating in an overnight sleep study, a child must be seen by a Paediatric Sleep Physician.
If your child has a referral from an ENT or GP, you will need book an appointment with one of our Paediatric Sleep Specialists first.
Appointments with paediatric medical specialists are out-of-hospital consultations. Health funds and NDIS do not provide cover for these medical consultations.
Many private health funds, depending on your level of cover may provide a rebate for the overnight sleep study.
Please note we are an Out Patient facility, not a hospital.
It may seem obvious, but the most important thing to bring to the appointment is your child. It is important for the paediatrician to meet, assess and examine your child in person.
*We understand there may be times when parents want to discuss issues or strategies without their child being present. We can often accommodate this within your visit. If you feel the need for a separate appointment without your child, please speak with us about this. We will discuss options, however, it is important for you to remember you cannot claim the Medicare rebate if your child does not attend the appointment.
Our paediatricians are not able to provide medical advice or consultation via email or telephone. Your child will need to attend a medical appointment to discuss medical management and address any clinical queries that you may have.
At the doctor's discretion, some results of investigations ordered may be discussed with you via telehealth. However, if the doctor needs to discuss this in more detail with you or any subsequent investigations or referrals are required, a follow-up appointment is required.
If you have a question for the doctor, such as "what time was I suppose to give this medication to my child?", please call or email the practice and we will pass on the request at their next clinic day. We will then get in touch with you with their response.
