We wish to advise that parking can be challenging in our area and unfortunately, we do not have any parking on site. As we have 2 major hospitals within 500 metres of our surgery, parking can be very difficult.
So please allow plenty of time for parking so that it does not impact on your appointment time. If you are running late, we request you call us to let us know so we can let the doctor know.
Yes, you will need a referral to see our paediatricians or access the paediatric services.
Referrals from specialists last for 3 months and GP referrals last for 12 months. Medicare does not allow us to accept referrals from Allied Health.
*Please note with out a referral Medicare card holders will not be able to claim the Medicare rebates for the paediatric services conducted.
Your pharmacist will notify you when your last script is being dispensed. At this time you should call to make an appointment with your paediatrician to have new scripts written.
We strongly advice to call us in advance as the doctor can only issue a script if they are present in the clinic and the script is required to be picked up in person. Alternatively, if the script is not an authority script, your GP can renew the scripts for you.
Call us if you are unsure if your script requires authority.
As we are a private specialist clinic we do not bulk bill and there will be an out of pocket fee for your child's appointment.
The fees differ between services offered at our practice, so please call us on 9195 6677 for further information.
Private Health Funds do not cover consultations however some may cover the overnight sleep study. Please note we are an Out Patient facility, not a hospital.
A cancellation is considered late when the appointment is cancelled less that 48 hours before the appointment time. A no show is when a patient misses an appointment without cancelling. In either case, we will charge a $250 cancellation fee. This fee must be paid before any further appointments will be made.
Due to the high demand and long wait times for appointments with our paediatricians we require confirmation of attendance 48 hours in advance. This allows us to book another child from our waiting list if you can not attend. We will first send out a text message and then call in order to obtain confirmation. If we don't receive a response to confirm your appointment, your allocated time may be given to another child on the emergency wait list.
If you have a question for the doctor, such as "what time was I suppose to give this medication to my child?" or need to request a letter to be written for example for the NDIS, please call or email us at the front desk and we will pass on the request at their next clinic day. We will then get in touch with you with their response or they may call you themselves. If the matter is urgent please contact our front desk on 9195 6677 or frontdesk@thesleepcottage.com.au
Due to the Privacy Act we are unable to give results out over the phone and require the parent or guardian of the child to attend the clinic to receive results. This includes pathology, sleep studies and assessments.
