The Sleep Cottage is a private specialist clinic. Our fees are aligned with the AMA recommended rates for specialist consultations and are set at the discretion of your treating clinician. We believe it is important for you to know, in advance, how much you will have to pay when you attend an appointment.
We require FULL payment on the day of consultation. We accept EFTPOS; Mastercard and Visa or Cash.
After you have paid the full fee for your appointment, we will lodge a claim on your behalf with Medicare Online (providing you have a valid referral for the appointment and your child is registered with Medicare). The rebate will be paid into the nominated bank account, usually on the next business day. Families should ensure they have provided bank details to Medicare. If your family has exceeded the Medicare Safety Net threshold for the calendar year, your gap payment will be reduced.
If you do not have a valid referral at the time of the appointment, you will have to pay the Full Fee and not be able to claim the Medicare rebate.
Please contact our reception team if you wish to enquire about fees and any out-of-pocket costs associated with your visit.
The Sleep Cottage supports our families with reminders of appointments via SMS. However we ask that you take a clear note of your appointment date and time when making the booking, as it is your responsibility to manage this and to contact us to make changes if you are no longer able to attend your scheduled time.
Due to the high demand and long wait times for appointments with our paediatricians, we require confirmation of attendance one week in advance. This allows us to book another child from our waiting list if you can not attend. We will send out a text messages in order to obtain confirmation. If we don't receive a response to confirm your appointment, your allocated time may be given to another child on the emergency wait list.
If you cannot attend, please advise us adequate notice prior to the appointment time. If you do not cancel your appointment or do not attend the consultation, a cancellation fee of up to 100% of the appointment fee may be charged. This cancellation fee will need to be paid in full prior to further appointments being made or further services will be provided.
Appointments: a cancellation is considered late when the appointment is cancelled less that 48 hours before the appointment time. Failure to attend is when a patient misses an appointment without cancelling. In either case, you will be charged a fee.
Sleep Studies: a cancellation is considered late when a sleep study is cancelled less that 72 hours before the sleep study. Failure to attend is when a patient misses the overnight sleep study without cancelling. In either case, you will be charged a $650.00 fee.
There are Medicare rebates available for specialist medical consultations through Medicare, if a valid referral is provided. Your rebate will be processed at the time of payment and usually takes 24-48 hours to be deposited into your nominated bank account. A consultation without a medical referral is available, but are no for rebates.
We are unable to discount or bulk bill patients. If you are unable to afford to see a private paediatrician, your GP may be able to refer you to a public hospital paediatric outpatient clinic at your local Hospital.
A referral letter from your General Practitioner is valid for 12 months from the date of your first appointment. A referral letter from an obstetrician or other medical specialist is only valid for 3 months from the date of your first appointment.
Due to an increase of requests for administrative services outside of consultation with doctor, we have implemented the following fees:
