Sleep Medicine
On the Day Before Arrival

Both child (patient) and adult staying overnight MUST complete a Rapid Antigen Covid test first thing in the morning of the study BEFORE leaving the house for the day. Please take a photo of the results to show night staff upon your arrival.

At the time of booking, you will have provided your credit card details for security. Please ensure the full fee amount is available for our admin to process payment and have your phone handy, as staff will contact you the morning of the sleep study to confirm details. Staff will then process the Medicare claim on your behalf.

Please have your dinner at home or before arrival. We understand it may be an early meal for your child, but this is to avoid allergens and hot food smells in the premises, which can be very stimulating for some children. We ask that you avoid sugary foods.

Should you need to bring snacks, evening milk, etc., to help tide your little one over until bed, you are welcome. We ask that you avoid any of the common allergens, such as nuts and eggs, as well as anything particularly pungent or messy. We have a kitchenette for your use, with a fridge, microwave, and kettle, as well as tea/coffee for the adults and fruit for the kids.

Arrival is at 5:30 PM. Only one adult is to stay overnight. Parking is on the street only; unfortunately, we do not have availability onsite. We are near two hospitals, and parking can be congested but has normally eased by this time of night. Timed parking ceases at 6:00 PM. Should weather or parking be particularly bad on your arrival, you are welcome to pull into the cottage driveway to unload bags for easier access before finding your parking.

Please ensure your child has a bath or shower before arrival to ensure clean skin for the best contact of leads. Do not wash their hair on the day of the study, as we need their scalp dry. However, we require product-free hair and a clean scalp. Please ensure toenails are trimmed with no nail polish.

Please arrive with your child in their sleepwear. We recommend loose-fitting two-piece (top & pants) as we need to access their chest, tummy & leg under the clothing. No onesies/wonder suits, nighties, or tight-fitting clothing. Sleeping bags must have a two-way zipper to allow access for the monitoring equipment. Please bring a pair of socks for your child to assist the monitoring probe in staying on overnight for wriggly kids. Adults MUST wear pyjamas! Sorry, Dads…

Please administer as per your child’s normal routine any evening medications they take, unless specified by your sleep specialist.

We want your child to be as comfortable as possible, so please feel free to bring any favourite blanky, cuddle toy, pillow etc. to help them settle. If your child falls asleep with a night light, white noise etc. you are welcome to bring these along, however, once your child is asleep, we do require that they are turned off as we record audio and infrared video of your child’s sleep.

Please bring your normal evening & morning toiletries.

We encourage you to bring books, games, etc., to play with after setup until bedtime to help them regulate and settle for sleep. Should you wish to bring a device of any kind, we ask that headphones be used to keep noise to a minimum. Lights out/devices off around 8:30 PM if your child is not already asleep, as we are required to capture a defined minimum duration of data for Medicare. There are no televisions in our sleep rooms.
